MusicEase and SongWright

MusicEase imports SongWright files transparently. Here's what Michael Hulett, author of SongWright, the most widely used DOS-based program for music notation, has to say about MusicEase Professional:

Dear SongWright user;

If you are one of our many customers who have wanted to use the power and ease of Windows' graphical environment for producing music scores, I am pleased to recommend MusicEase Professional for Windows.

MusicEase offers a host of convenient features such as WYSIWYG editing, size scaling, access to True-Type fonts, and support for virtually all printers. It has automatic functions for tablature, shaped notes and guitar fret symbols, among others.

Best of all, MusicEase is unique in being able to import SongWright files, allowing conversion with a minimum of additional editing.

Bear in mind that MusicEase is not "SongWright for Windows" and so different commands are employed, primarily using PC keyboard input. Although real-time recording is not supported, MusicEase can read and write MIDI files and playback takes advantage of Windows' Media Player.

You may discover the best of both worlds by continuing to use SongWright for your original music entry and then MusicEase for final professional results.

Sincerely,

Michael Hulett

(NOTE: There is no windows version of SongWright.)
